Assignment 3
Assignment 3 was a group project. We had to create our own video based on a group proposal, made by combining the ideas in the slides created in Assignment 1 of all the group members.

This is the proposal I created based on the point that I wanted to focus on: how urban education and even society could benefit from us helping to improve urban education.

Some points include more joy and less segregation in urban classrooms, more working hands in urban jobs etc.

The first step was to combine all our three proposals, written in one paragraph. We created the synopsis as a summary of our main points and how we chose to convey them.

Then, we created the problem statement by coming up with three research questions to answer in the video.

Of course, we had to understand why we wanted to create this video in the first place before we could come up with the rest of the ideas. The objective, we decided, was simply to spread the word about rural education and its situation, and how to help.

Then, we made the final design statement, which talks about the general idea of the video, created by relating the information in the previous slides.

The next thing was to think of the target audience, as this affects the way the video is carried out. We decided to mainly focus on adults, mainly parents and teachers, while also making it fun and entertaining for students to see and understand.

The art and video style were things my groupmates already had their eyes on, but after properly establishing the target audience we agreed they would be appropriate. Colourful and cute to capture attention; fun and entertaining to retain it.

Now we had to establish the main subject of focus. As in, what did we want to focus on in the video? What were we going to discuss? We narrowed it down to the three main points that we had already individually thought of.

Finally, it was time to address how the video would be carried out. We settled on something fun (as said with the target audience and art/video style). This would not only help gain attention but make it so this heavy and serious topic would be easier to talk about, which would hopefully mean more people would be willing to give it a chance.

This is the loose script my groupmates and I wrote after discussing our video concept (the slides before), which we fleshed out to include the main points of our discussion after talking to the teacher.
This is the storyboard that was drawn, simply showcasing who talks, and about what.

This is the final script, transcribed from our improvised discussion in the recording.
