Assignment 1
Assignment 1 was a quick and easy assignment, as it was technically the first part of the three connected assignments. In this assignment, we were tasked with doing research on a certain topic based on an issue in the world, using precedent studies as our main focus.

My chosen issue was 'education'.

The first part of the assignment was to brainstorm what 'education' as an issue meant to us. After coming up with all these ideas, we had to create a focus mind map that narrowed down the brainstorm into a singular focus topic.

I decided to focus on rural education and how it differed from urban education, in good and bad ways.
My first precedent study was used to answer the question 'How do the lack of resources affect schools in rural areas?'

I first established the importance of funding to urban schools, to help give a better understanding of just how much rural areas lack in classes due to their lack of funding.
I described the things that students miss out on and don't get to experience, which can stunt their learning.

My second precedent study (and a bit of my third) was used to talk about why rural children are so excited about school.

This documentary was the first one I watched and it brought this point up, making this one of my stronger points, which I end up going with in Assignment 3.

My third precedent study was added to this point later on, as I thought what the teacher said in the screenshot was more relevant to this point than the third.
My third precedent study helped explain how improving rural education can improve society as a whole. I wanted to establish the importance of rural education and rural students, so I discussed this point.

Finally was the problem statement, which discusses the main issues I talked about and the solution proposal.
This is the reference list, in APA style, that provides all the articles and documentaries I referred to and used as precedent studies.
