Assignment 1

As the first assignment, we start off easy by learning the basics of extracting points from simple, vague prompts. Using our creative thinking, we had to pick apart the prompt in as many ways as possible to find different categories and points, before presenting it in a mindmap form.

What Makes A Person?

I started by brainstorming about what parts of someone make them unique. What traits do people have that separate them from other people with other similar characteristics? Every part of a person is different, that's why everyone is different fundamentally.

What Makes A Country?

For a country, what makes it special? I thought about the characteristics of my own country and then thought about the characteristics of other countries that fall into the same category to derive these points. What are some things that can't be changed, like geography, and what things are controlled by the government?

My Personality

After thinking about what makes a person, I applied it to myself. I tried to think about all my quirks and the things I do that others don't, or even find strange. What are the parts of me that make me different from others, that make me who I am?

My Desired Country

This prompt was a little tricky at some bits, because stuff like age ranges and natural geography need some imagination, paired with personal preference. I prefer more natural sights, so I went with that. Of course, equality and fairness, along with cleanliness, was natural.

Reflection

This first assignment was a good introduction to the module, as it introduced what I should expect for the other assignments - a lot of thinking and a lot of pictures. I learned how to think creatively by letting my mind run wild while brainstorming and letting loose. Also, as the first assignment, it was slightly tough to organise my time properly to finish all the work on time. Designing the template for the mindmaps was a little challenging too, as I couldn't get a design I liked or that looked right. I'm glad that I managed to do so at the end, but it was an obstacle to overcome nonetheless. Overall, it was a simple and straightforward first assignment that served as good foreshadowing to the further contents of the class.
